Who We Are
M.A.Z.E. Research Center provides individuals an opportunity to take part in clinical research trials for a wide variety of medical conditions, specializing in urological, male infertily, andrology and sexual dysfunction of men and women. These research trials take place in either our Purchase, NY or Manhattan sites.
Michael A. Werner, MD, has 17 years of research experience. He is a board-certified Urologist with a practice limited to male sexual dysfunction and male infertility. Dr. Werner is medical director of M.A.Z.E. Labs, a state-of-the-art andrology lab. M.A.Z.E. Labs performs sperm analysis, sperm washing, and sperm banking in Westchester County, New York and Passaic County, New Jersey. Dr Werner also treats male infertility, and male and female sexual dysfunction.
His group has been working together to move forward in the field of clinical research. Our innovative research staff continues to leap forward in the area of clinical studies with their state-of-art facility, and has repeatedly achieved the goals set out for each study sponsor.
Tammy Facciolo is a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (ACRP), and joined the team of Michael A. Werner M.D, PC in 2007. Tammy is responsible for the implementation of clinical research studies. Tammy ensures that all regulatory and IRB documentation is in adherence to FDA Regulations and ICH/GCP guidelines. This includes study management, daily monitoring of subject's progress, strict protocol adherence and assisting with developing recruitment and retention strategies. Tammy started in the medical field as an LPN and is also a Certified Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
Teri Melo is a Certified Medical Assistant and Study Coordinator. Teri has been with Michael A. Werner, MD, PC since 2010. Teri is responsible for assisting in the implementation of clinical research studies. This includes study execution and management, daily interaction and monitoring of patient progress, drug accountability, and strict protocol implementation. Teri also assists in recruiting and meeting study recruitment goals.
Bat Sheva Marcus, LMSW, MPH, PhD. Bat Sheva Marcus has a Master's in public health from the Institute of Advanced Study of Human Sexuality. She is a licensed social worker with a Master's degree from Columbia University and earned her Doctor of Philosophy in human sexuality from the Institute of Advanced Study of Human Sexuality. Dr. Marcus is a founder of the Medical Center for Female Sexuality and has served as its director since the launch of the Center in 2000. Her previous positions include executive director of not-for-profit institutions and corporations, medical practices and laboratories.
Nick Cannone is an ANCC certified nurse practitioner who has been involved in research for several years. He recently started with Michael A. Werner MD, PC where he acts as sub-investigator and research clinician. Nick received his nursing degree from Binghamton University and he worked as a nurse at Mount Sinai Medical Center before going back to school to get his Master's degree as a family nurse practitioner from Pace University. He is an experienced primary care provider with expertise in HIV care. Nick obtained his experience in research while working at ACRIA, a not for profit community based research center.
Tara Ford is a certified Physician Assistant and graduated with honors from Touro College of Health Sciences in New York. She has been a clinician at the Medical Center for Female Sexuality since 2010. Tara has worked in adolescent medicine, orthopedic surgery and with infectious disease experts at Albert Einstein College of Medicine conducting research studies focused on microbicide development for the prevention of HIV in women.
Melissa Ferrarra attended the Lienhard Scool of Nursing and earned a combined degree–Masters of Science, Family Nurse Practitioner. She has been with MAZE Labs since 2003, and is the assistant medical director for the Medical Center for Female Sexuality. She has more than 11 years experience in women’s health.
